TROUBLED Harare side Caps United’s hunt for a coach has begun in earnest with the club allaying fears of the team’s demise.

Makepekepe were left without a technical bench following the sudden and unexpected resignation of Taurai Mangwiro and his entire backroom staff while reports mounted that eight first team players were also on their way out.

Mangwiro was initially thought to be going back “home” to Dynamos yet Harare City lay in wait and unbeknown to everyone, lured Mangwiro to Town House.

Among the senior players said to be on their way out are Tendai Samanja, Dominic Chungwa, Tafadzwa Dube, Hardlife Zvirekwi and Kelvin Bulaji, all rumoured to be crossing the great divide to Dynamos.

Joyce Kapota, the Green Machine chief executive officer, told Chronicle Sport yesterday that they would not advertise for the coaching post but would instead head hunt their new man.

“We’re looking for someone who shares the same vision with us, someone who will preserve our legacy,” said Kapota.

She refused to give a hint on whether they had identified that individual, brushing aside the name of former Dynamos coach Callisto Pasuwa.

Kapota confirmed that Bulaji and Samanja’s contracts are running out at the end of the month but said right back Zvirekwi still had a running contract.

“No club has contacted us about our players but what we want to make clear is that we plan to keep most of our players while also beefing up our squad with a few additions,” said Kapota.

Asked about the future of the former Cup Kings especially reports that their financial position is not that healthy, Kapota said management and directors were busy trying to harness funds for the survival of the team.

“Caps United will be there next year and in years to come,” she said.

Caps United is owned by Premier Soccer League president Twine Phiri.
