CAPS Utd to unveil sponsor next week

CAPS United have confirmed they have secured a lucrative sponsorship deal which could be announced as soon as next week.

However, the identity of the partner remains under wraps as the Green Machine are still tying the loose ends of the deal.

Makepekepe had literally become a laughing stock in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League with biting financial challenges taking a toll on their performance in the field of play.

However, things are beginning to shape up with the giants starting to seal partnerships following the arrival of a new chief executive, Charlie Jones.

He could not comment further than just hinting a sponsor was coming on board.

The marriage has arrived in ideal time for Makepekepe whose fight to crawl to the top rungs of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table continues tomorrow.

While Jones is pulling the strings outside the field of play, coach Lloyd Chitembwe is pushing his charges to do more.

They beat WhaWha 2-1 a fortnight ago in their last league outing before last weekend’s break.

And they will be looking at picking another set of maximum points when they play second-from-bottom side Bulawayo City at the National Sports Stadium tomorrow.

Defender Ben Musaka, who has been in terrific form since recovering from a lengthy injury spell, challenged his teammates to rise to the occasion.

“Every match that we play now is a must-win. As CAPS United, we need to be seen fighting for everything,” said Musaka.

“Where we are now on the league table is not where we belong as a big institution.

“The responsibility lies with us players. It’s about us, we should rise, fight and win matches as we go.

“The target remains the best possible place to finish the marathon. We have been blowing hot and cold throughout the season and it is now time to up our game.

“Bulawayo City is a good team. They have some of the best results under their belts. Remember they beat Highlanders in their first leg. “Their form at the National Sports Stadium is also impressive. We will have to be at our best to win the match. It’s never going to be easy but as a team and as players, we know it’s our responsibility to carry the team to where it should be.”

While Makepekepe will be battling to get another set of full points which will help them breathe easy, Dynamos cannot afford to drop points when they face Tenax at Vengere tomorrow.

The Glamour Boys are eight points behind leaders FC Platinum with 11 games still to be played this term.

And the team will be fancying their mathematical chances of winning the title.

“That makes every game we will play very difficult,” said goalkeeper Taimon Mvula.

“We still have a chance to win the title. It’s still a long way before the season ends.

“There are chances for us, just like everyone else but we know it’s going to be very tough.

“We will always fight to get the points in every game that we play.

“Tenax are no pushovers. They have been performing well especially at Vengere.

“They will come at us but we all know what we need to do as a team.

“This is a match we cannot afford to drop any points. It’s a match we will throw everything to get the win. We are taking one game at a time and we are focusing on this one against Tenax this weekend.”

The other traditional giants, Highlanders are looking to pick full points this afternoon against Herentals at the National Sports Stadium.

Bosso, under the tutelage of Baltemar Brito, are showing some revival signs although they hit some humps in their last two games.

The Students, themselves impressive this season, have warned the Bulawayo giants ahead of this match.

“We are going into this match knowing we have a chance to win it,” said coach Kumbirai Mutuwekuziva.

“We should be disciplined and try to play our normal game.”

Meanwhile, Black Rhinos defender Gareth Madhake, who is enjoying his game in arguably his breakthrough season, said his team are geared to stop leaders FC Platinum.

The two teams face-off at Mandava this afternoon.

“We are not looking at what a team has done in the past. We are looking forward to a good game. We know they are good but we are also good and we are raring to go,” said Madhake.
