CAPS want Chunga again?

time in the past five years, just a month after he was pushed out of the team.

Authoritative sources yesterday revealed that CAPS United were considering hiring Chunga again, after the coach continued to impress with Gunners whom he has now guided above the Green Machine.

CAPS United appear to have lost patience with coach Maxwell Takaendesa Jongwe who crashed to his fourth straight league defeat, a 0-1 loss in Masvingo, yesterday and was targeted by irate Green Machine fans.

Jongwe, who was also booed by the CAPS United fans when the Green Machine fell to a 0-3 defeat at the hands of Monomotapa last week, needed police protection as he left Mucheke after another bad day at the office.

CAPS United had earmarked Ian Gorowa to take over as substantive coach but the deal broke down last week when the Harare giants could not commit the financial demands which the South Africa-based coach wanted.

“There is a possibility that Moses Chunga could make a dramatic return to CAPS United this week,” sources revealed last night.
“There has been communication at a high level and there are signs that the discussions could gain momentum this week.
“There are two choices right now for CAPS United and the big one is Chunga and there is a feeling in the club’s leadership that they were wrong to let Bambo go in the first place.

“The other choice is Lloyd Chitembwe, who was also forced out by the fans, but believes he has matured, during the time he has been out of the game, and can make a difference to the team.
“What appears certain is that a new coach will be appointed this week because the fans have certainly turned against the current coach and the toss is between Bambo and Lodza.”
Apparently Chunga is also being targeted by Dynamos amid reports that some of the leaders of the club want someone on standby to take over should results continue to elude the Glamour Boys.

Little Kiglon are also reported to have tabled an offer to Chunga yesterday to take over as substantive coach of the side.
“Bambo has become the star of the moment after his impressive work at Gunners but there is a feeling within the CAPS hierarchy that bringing him back could strain their relations with Gunners and some of the leaders don’t want that to happen,” said the sources.

“Kiglon are very clear that they want someone with experience to save them from relegation and they believe Chunga is the one with the Midas Touch to do that. They have a young coach, who is good, but lacks experience and they want Bambo to help the team.

“The offers are coming from everywhere for Chunga.”
Jongwe has picked just a point, out of 15, in five league matches while Chunga, unbeaten since he took over at Gunners, has picked 11.

Jongwe’s CAPS United have scored just one goal with Evans Gwekwerere finding the target against Dynamos in a losing cause in the Harare Derby.
Chunga has been fielding youngsters and they have responded well and their 2-0 win over Shooting Stars yesterday continued a purple patch for the club and took then over CAPS United on the table.
