commonly known as the Gushesh for a spin at the Borrowdale Racecourse last Saturday.
Added to the fun was music mostly R&B and hip-hop from 2 Chainz, A$AP Rocky, Pusha T, Kendrick Lamar to Cash Out and Trinidad James.
But outside the spin area were food stalls where people swarmed for BBQs.
And for those who are into fashion they got more than they bargained for.
The ladies wore colourful shorts, jeggins, tights and mini skirts and everything in between revealing a lot flesh.
Although car spinning shows are big in South Africa’s ghettos and suburbs where they are known as the Gushesh, in Harare the sport or rather the game is peaking up with a number of guys who are doing it.
But on Saturday, it was different case as up to eight Gushesh drivers among them Feroz Cassim aka Feromagic, Saxton aka The General from Botswana, Eric Maswaya and Sunesh also from South Africa made their presence felt with some breath-taking car performances.
Brendan Benson, who represented Zimbabwe, brought the thrills and revved up the audiences at the show.
“As much as it is a sport, we do it for the love of it. One thing you have to know about this is that you got to have the experience,” Benson said. One of the Y & Sons Crew, Sunesh from Johannesburg said: “I have been doing this for six years now and its the only sport I know. We are not swimmers or tennis players but all we want is to drive the beemers the way we do,” he said.
Another driver Zele also from Y & Sons Crew said it was encouraging that the sport was growing in Zimbabwe.
“The last time we were here there was a small crowd but this time around we had a bigger crowd.
“We appreciate the support and hopefully more Zimbabweans will take up this game to greater heights,” he said.
