ZIMBABWE women’s tennis legend Cara Black and her new doubles partner Saisai Zhang of China will open their campaign at the Australian Open this week with a first-round tie against Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Alicja Rosolska of Poland.

According to the women’s doubles draw of the first Grand Slam of the year, which was conducted yesterday in Melbourne, Black and Zheng, just like their first round opponents, are unseeded.

And they could meet second seeds Sania Mirza of India and China’s Su-Wei Heish in the next round.

Both teams are in the lower half of the draw.

Interestingly, Black spent last year playing doubles with Mirza and the Zimbabwe-India tennis pairing clinched the prestigious season-ending WTA Finals in Singapore in October before announcing their split for the 2015 season. In Singapore, Black and Mirza, who were the third seeds, playing their last tournament together, took exactly an hour to thrash second seeds Hsieh Su-wei (Chinese Taipei) and Peng Shuai (China).
