WARRIORS midfielder Andy Rinomhota is on the brink of sealing a new deal with Cardiff City, as the club looks to rebuild after dropping into England’s League One. The 27-year-old enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 season, shaking off a slow start to become one of Cardiff’s most consistent performers.

After returning from a loan spell, Rinomhota was an unused substitute in the first six matches but soon clawed his way into the starting XI with gritty displays and impressive versatility. Naturally a central midfielder, Rinomhota even filled in at right back when needed, his determination and work rate earning him the respect of both fans and teammates.

“He was immense,” said one club insider.

“Never complained, just got on with it and delivered week in, week out.”

His efforts were recognised in the dressing room, where teammates voted him their standout player of the season.

He was also a finalist for Cardiff’s Player of the Season award, narrowly edged out by Callum Robinson. With his contract set to expire this June, Cardiff have confirmed that negotiations are underway to extend his stay.

Talks are also ongoing with club captain Joe Ralls, while Welsh legend Aaron Ramsey departs following a brief stint as caretaker manager. The club’s retained list shows a major shake up ahead, with Jamilu Collins, Raheem Conte, Anwar El Ghazi, Kieron Evans, Dimitrios Goutas, and Yakou Meite all set to leave on June 30. Rinomhota, born in Leeds to a Zimbabwean father and British mother, made his Warriors debut during the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers, earning praise for his composure and tactical awareness.

Having started his senior career at AFC Portchester, Rinomhota rose to prominence at Reading, where he was named Player of the Season in 2019. He joined Cardiff in 2022 and has quietly become one of the club’s most reliable assets.
