Top Zimbabwean comedian, Carl Joshua Ncube, is the latest addition to the cast of Comedy Centralas adult animated series, My Child: Teenage Mutant Azanians .

Ncube joins popular South African funnyman Trevor Gumbi on the Nick Wilson created show which premiered on December 5 last year. Ncube will join as a voice actor while he will also be tasked to create some Zimbabwe centred storylines to increase the showas audience.

The multi-talented Zimbabwean comedian has been a regular south of the Limpopo in the last few years, performing in a number of shows and festivals. One of his visits landed him at the inaugural Comedy Central fest, where he was identified by the show producers.

a?We are really excited because the multi talented stand-up comedian also happens to be an animator and writer and for us this ticked a lot of boxes,a? said producer Nick Wilson.

a?Our strategy is to be relevant in a number of African countries to increase our reach. We were excited to meet Carl Joshua Ncube at the recent Comedy Central International Comedy Festival and we instantly got along with our shared passion to growing animation on the continent,a? he said.

Ncube for his part said that the show would just help him add to his growing resume.

a?Itas great that people outside the country appreciate the work that I am doing and you can only learn from working with some of the most talented writers and comedians on the continent,a? he said.

Touted as Africaas answer to American animated shows like South Park and Family Guy, My Child Teenage Mutant Azanians tells the story of Professor Afronaut, Africaas top technocrat as he pilots the maiden voyage of Africaas first space tourism programme, together with Africaas top leaders and celebrities. An unforeseen disaster leads to a cross breeding of animals and the popular figures, who are subsequently marooned in a place called Azania.
