Carl Joshua Ncube, hailed as “The funniest comedian Zimbabwe’s ever produced” is set to break ribs once more in his native land, Bulawayo. He celebrates nine years in the comedy industry on 4 October next month, at his father’s legacy comedy-box, Nesbitt Castle.
Nesbitt Castle undoubtedly holds a special place in the humourist’s heart, Carl Joshua, as a young lad would watch his late father making jokes there and it is without a doubt the root of his stimulation into the comic landscape.
“It’s always exciting performing at the Nesbitt Castle and especially working with the Nesbitt Castle team who have always been very supportive of my comedy career.
“I’m looking forward to performing there once again . . . celebrating nine years of comedy in style,” said Carl Joshua.
“What can your audience anticipate?”
“I always aim to deliver a thought provoking, fun show for the audience. I turned 40 this year and I have loads to say mainly about how hard it is to be old,” he said.
The show is titled “Come and Laugh Bulawayo”.
The funnyman has performed in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, USA, Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Ivory Coast and South Africa with the aim of taking Zimbabwe stand-up comedy to the world.
The late bloomer, who started comedy at the age of 31, nine years ago, seems to have matured with age in the industry, not only locally but also in international theatres.
