Carl’s unorthodox wedding

The social media was abuzz when the stand-up comedian tied the knot with his fiancé and manager Nelsy Mugadza in the Bahamas in October while on tour.
It turned out the fairytale wedding was not planned but the couple being the spontaneous people they are, just seized an opportunity that had presented itself.
Thirty-five friends were lucky enough to witness the union of which most of them were Nelsy’s workmates and passengers aboard the cruise ship she works in.

The crew went out of their way and delegated themselves tasks to make the ceremony which lasted for just 27 minutes one to remember.
The not so fancy cake baked on the ship by the chef was all that mattered and a few bottles of champagne.
“Up to this day our families have not forgiven us for having them miss out on the important day inour lives but truth be told it was not our wish to disappoint anyone. A lot of beasts shall be paid to

compensate because what we did was not a  hoax.”
He also expressed that “normal” weddings people have do not amuse him for two reasons.

“It’s just that traditional weddings are strenuous and bride and groom go out of their way to make everyone else but themselves happy. That is not who we are and besides, we cannot afford them right now” he said.
Anyone who has been making a follow-up on Ncube’s shows knows that the man does absolutely nothing by the book.

This feat has helped him build a solid career in comedy, a feat many people have failed to achieve over the years.
Saturday Lifestyle had a hilarious talk with the funny man and his wife Nelsy and they filled us in on what goes on in the world of Ncube.
To begin with, it was a total surprise when he proposed to her in front of hundreds of people in the middle of his show dubbed “The Big Announcement” two years ago.
Although at first she thought it was a joke, when the spotlight came to her she realised he was serious.

After that they relocated to South Africa and lived together for two years, but at the back of his head he knew what had to be done.
When they finally managed to pull off the wedding everything went surprisingly well. It was with minimal effort, no bridesmaids, no shoes, no fancy jewellery or colour themes. It was just them, the beach, close friends and anticipation for an uncertain life ahead.

Dressed in a simple wedding gown, and an all-white shirt and suit for the groom the sight was so breathtaking that humourist wept like a baby the whole time during the ceremony
The comedian revealed how overjoyed he was to finally do what he had been dying to do all his life. After all, his tight work schedule had tied him down that he could not make time to organise a wedding.
After the brief wedding, it might have been business as usual for the newly weds with Nelsy back at work but it was the best day ever for them.

“We spent more than three weeks on the cruise ship but technically we did not have a honeymoon. I was alone most of the time in my room while she worked.
“I’d go down stairs to disturb her, complaining about stuff just to steal some time with her.
“When she finally got some time off, we went to the Antactic for a mini honeymoon,” she                said although Nelsy does not consider it to be one.
The couple, who have been working together from the word go, credits their successful                    relationship to not separating business and pleasure.

Born on Africa day in the city of Kings and Queens, Ncube has been a jaw cracker right from the start.
“My friends have always found me to be a funny character with crazy ideas. They, along with my wife gave me that push and talked me into taking comedy professionally.

They reiterated that the comedy business is part of the family and everyday they are always working towards its growth.
“We guard and make sacrifices for the business because when it grows it is going to be our pride and joy. Although we have just been married, we are happy to say that we already have our hands full with this baby (the business) that we are nurturing”
“We plan to adopt a nineteen year old Chinese boy though,” laughed Ncube.

All might seem well and rosy, with Ncube, travelling around the world and archiving some of his wildest dreams but he is far from the pinnacles he intends to reach.
Since his return to the motherland after two months of intensive training and exposure in some of the world’s greatest comedy clubs like the Gotham Club, he swears his life will never be the same.
He has turned into a rolling stone of no fixed aboard but while he takes these giant strides towards his destiny.
The future looks vivid with plans of touring England, Manchester, USA, Canada, before coming back to Zimbabwe for an end of year show next year.

“My fans have allowed me to evolve and as I prepare for my year end show I will present to them my experienced. I have become polished and have a great understanding of comedy now more than ever.
