Carnival on the cards

Givemore Chidzidzi said the carnival would benefit ordinary Zimbabweans and the corporate world.
“The event is going to provide a platform for citizens to interact among themselves and at the same time promoting local arts and crafts,” he said.
“The corporate sector can use this opportunity to advertise and also come up with business strategies in an effort to exploit the carnival,” he said.
Mr Chidzidzi said the idea to hold the carnival was mooted after the authority’s constant participation in international carnivals the world over.
“The carnival obviously has a bearing on previous carnivals that we have gone to in other countries but this particular one aims at showcasing our country, businesses and customs to the outside world. That way it becomes relevant and beneficial to us”
He urged stakeholders to participate and make an input to capitalize and make the carnival a success.
“Stakeholders are welcome to forward any ideas that can ensure our goals are achieved. Registration is currently underway at the ZTA for stakeholders willing to join our committee on the carnival related business.” he said.
Harare currently holds the Jacaranda Festival run by the Harare City council.
