Cassper ditches signature ponytail

Cassper Nyovest has ditched his signature ponytail which has been a part of his ‘stage persona’ ever since he burst onto the hip-hop scene.

Cassper debuted his new look at the MTV Africa Music Awards ceremony last weekend. Dressed in a slick black and white tuxedo – Mr Doc Shebeleza looked smoking-hot. Speaking about ditching his ponytail which has been a huge part of his brand for years, Cassper said it was part of his ‘new image’.

“I’m growing up. My brand is growing up. I’m a CEO now. It’s time for me to boss up and clean up,” said Cassper.

The Family Tree boss said those close to him reacted emotionally when he told them about the decision to cut his ponytail.

“I didn’t know how much of an emotional attachment people had to it. Even the guy who was cutting my hair was like, ‘man, I can’t believe you making me do this’,” he said.

Cassper added that as an artist, one should never be afraid of change. However, the ponytail seems to have been replaced by a bandana which Cassper has been donning for the better part of the week.

Meanwhile, the superstar is hard at work preparing for his Fill up Orlando concert tomorrow where he hopes to fill up the stadium with 40 000 revellers. As of yesterday, over 20 000 tickets had been sold – Sowetan.
