Cassper rocks hometown with birthday bash

CASSPER Nyovest, the self-proclaimed Fresh Prince of Maftown, took his birthday party to Mahikeng at the weekend. He told Sowetan: “It was special to celebrate my birthday in my hometown with friends who I knew even before they became superstars. They all came to perform. Khuli Chana was always a big brother to me.” Apart from Chana, musicians who helped Cassper celebrate his 24th birthday included Uhuru and Riky Rick, who set the stage alight at Red Ox Bush Pub. Some 2 000 revellers filled the open space of the establishment until the early hours of Sunday.

Cassper started his annual birthday celebration as an entrepreneurial venture four years ago.

“My whole family came together, including friends that I grew up with, and it was just amazing. My dad stayed for the whole concert and even got up on stage and I even cried when that happened. It was memorable.”

The Doc Shebeleza hitmaker who snatched prominent awards at the Channel O Africa Music Awards said his birthday concert was one of the highlights of his year.

He posted a picture on Instagram with his rumoured girlfriend Amanda du Pont, captioned “So I sang ‘all I want for my birthday . . .’ and she gave me this look.” — Sowetan.
