After intensive tests examining taste, smell, appearance and other technical details, a panel of 10 professional beer tasters awarded an impressive 9,1 out of 10 marks to Delta Lager’s entry.
The prestigious beer tasting competition draws entries from SABMiller affiliates breweries across the continent.
Mr George Mutendadzamera, Delta Corporation’s corporate affairs director, commended the Southerton Lagers brewing technical team for upholding high operational standards.
“We congratulate the team at Delta Lagers for consistent attention to detail and following laid down standards meticulously,” he says.
Beer is tasted at each stage of brewing and when the process is complete the finished product is stored at a specific temperature for a set period of time.
Mr Mutendadzamera said that all of the beverage manufacturer’s plants have stringent quality control mechanisms in place.
“All raw materials included in the brewing process are of the highest possible quality,” he said.
Castle Lite has captured the fancy of local lager drinkers’ taste buds. Initially, Delta used to import the distinct green packaged lager, however, as of October, Castle Lite is now being bottled locally.
“Going forward, this effectively means that there will no longer be any shortages on the market,” Mr Mutendadzamera said.
With a moderate alcohol content of 4 percent and containing 25 percent less kilojoules than other mainstream beers, Castle Lite has fast become the darling of trendy urban professionals. A well-executed advertising strategy has turned the previously plain brand into a marketing juggernaut.
This campaign has incorporated innovations such as the “snow castle”, a temperature-sensitive mechanism on bottles which turns from white to blue, when the beer is at the ‘ideal’ drinking temperature of between -2 to -4 degrees.
