Firms fail to implement collective bargaining agreements

MANY employers are failing or delaying to pay workers resulting in strikes. Strikes have rocked Government services, councils, State-owned companies and the private sector over conditions of service.
Workers at the National Railways of Zimbabwe and Air Zimbabwe have gone on strike over the past few months to push for payment of outstanding salaries or demanding increases.
The two firms owe their workers over three months’ salaries.
Harare labour lawyer Advocate Arthur Marara said: “Companies are not honouring collective bargaining agreements they entered into with the workers, hence the protracted disgruntlements.”
