The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Caritas Zimbabwe Chinhoyi Diocese and the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development, and Vocational Training held belated International Youth Day celebrations at St Boniface Mission in Hurungwe today.

Running under the theme ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development’, the event drew youths and various exhibitors from across the district.

CRS’s gender and youth officer, Ms Cute Mudzana said the theme speaks to the organisation’s efforts to complement Zimbabwe’s drive towards empowering youths in the digital era.

She said various youth economic empowerment programmes have been rolled out by the Government and private players, adding that young people must make use of social media platforms to market their products.

A Chirundu waste recycler, Ms Lyna Reza, encouraged youths and women to earn a living through recycling.

The event was also held against the backdrop of efforts to tackle the drug and substance abuse menace currently grappling the country.
