Cattle Ownership Scheme has been placing adverts in papers asking people to join the project, which will see them getting cattle after making payments for a certain period of time.
The scheme is being done though the Zimpost network.
Several attempts by Business Chronicle to solicit a comment from the Cattle Ownership Scheme failed as an official kept promising to get back to this paper since last week.
The executive director of the Zimbabwe Farmers Union Mr Paul Zakariya said he was not aware of how the organisation worked.
“I do not know the organisation at all and I have tried to get in touch with the officials to no avail as the number I was given was not reachable.
“All I know is the information we read in the newspapers and I am sure even farmers would want to know more about the organisation,” he said.
An official from ZCFU who spoke on condition of anonymity said they were still in the dark about the process which they also saw in the papers.
“We do not know anything about this organisation and we would love to know more about it and how it is prepared to help out farmers in the country,” the official said.
According to the company’s advert in the newspapers, the organisation has unveiled a cattle scheme whereby people can own cattle for as little as $35 depending on the scheme one would have chosen.
“A person can be a member by filling in forms and choosing from over nine schemes which are meant to benefit an individual with specified cattle every year.
“After three years, a member is allowed to sell and take part of their cattle and after five years a member will be allowed to take all their cattle if they so wish,” the statement read.
To register individuals must provide either copies of pay slips, bank statements, two months subscription in cash of chosen scheme (if informal or cash members), tobacco marketing board growers number for tobacco farmers, among other requirements.
