This was despite their 2-1 loss to Mahatshula in their Zifa Bulawayo Division Three encounter at Mahatshula on Saturday where the lack of a goal predator saw the school team fail to bury a myriad of chances that fell their way before the home side grabbed a quick double through Tinashe Ncube deep into the second half.
“We lost but we had greater possession of the ball and overall we played well but were just unfortunate not to score.
“Even the goals we conceded were soft goals, I am positive the boys will rise to the occasion, more so playing with their age mates as opposed to the league where we play much older opponents,” said CBC coach Ntandoyenkosi Sibindi.
Sibindi said with the kind of play displayed, they really stood a good chance of bagging the Edmund Rice inter-CBCs trophy.
The team left by road yesterday and will spend the night in Durban ahead of today’s friendly against St Henry’s before flying back to Johannesburg tomorrow for the Edmund Rice soccer festival which starts on Thursday and ends on Saturday.
Sibindi expressed gratitude to their headmaster David Thomson who was the number one supporter of the team and had a desire to see the team doing well.
