CBZ suspends headquarters project

in Harare. CBZ chief executive officer Dr John Mangudya said the headquarters, which was supposed to be one of the biggest construction projects in the country, had been affected by liquidity challenges. Instead, he said the banking group was concentrating on another office complex in Borrowdale, which will house several CBZ units.

“We have shifted our focus on the development of the headquarters in Newlands as a result of liquidity. However, we are constructing a magnificent building in Pomona, Borrowdale, which is going to house various CBZ units,” he said.

Dr Mangudya said the bank’s board will meet and consider the fate of the Newlands project.
He said the bank, like any other businesses in the country, faced challenges related to liquidity, and was trying to secure long-term lines of credit. – New Ziana.
