The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe (CCZ) is hosting the Green Action Programme in Luveve, promoting food sustainability and strengthening food systems in communities vulnerable to climate change.
Held at the Luveve Youth Center, the programme encourages consumers to embrace indigenous healthy foods such as isitshwala samabele, traditional fruits, and vegetables.

In his remarks during the event, CCZ Matabeleland chairperson Mr Ntokozo Nyoni said the programme is being celebrated across 10 provinces, with Luveve hosting the Bulawayo event, Lupane hosting Matabeleland North Province, and Gwanda hosting Matabeleland South Province.
Running under the theme “Promoting Indigenous Food,” the initiative aligns with the World Consumer Rights Day theme: “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyle.”
“The initiative gives a greater role in safeguarding your future,” said Mr Nyoni.
At the Luveve Youth Center, CCZ showcased various traditional food items including amahewu, inxanxa, umfushwa, and umkhemeswane, among others.
The event also featured traditional dances, with dance groups from Luveve displaying their talent.
