Harare Province vice chairman Cde Ephraim Fundukwa has underscored the transformative impact of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), as the ZANU PF Harare Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) convened on Tuesday to review the Provincial Economic Development Plan (PEDP) 2021-2025 summary report.
Presiding over the high-level meeting on behalf of provincial chairman Cde Godwills Masimirembwa, Cde Fundukwa commended both the PCC and the Provincial Development Committee (PDC) for their unwavering dedication to the province’s developmental agenda.
He stressed that the review process is not merely administrative but a critical exercise in shaping Harare’s transition into the next phase of the national development blueprint.
“The progress we have recorded under NDS1 is a testament to the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Mnangagwa and I commend every member of this committee for their tireless efforts in ensuring that Harare Province remains at the forefront of national development,” said Cde Fundukwa.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Charles Tawengwa, delivered a comprehensive presentation reaffirming that NDS1 remains the cornerstone of Zimbabwe’s march towards an empowered and prosperous society. He highlighted remarkable achievements that have positioned the nation firmly on the trajectory of growth, including GDP per capita surging from US$2,096 to an impressive US$4,857, manufacturing sector expansion surpassing targets to reach 22.2 percent, and the training of over 25,000 small and medium enterprises.
The Minister further noted the delivery of 36,933 housing units, issuance of 9,200 title deeds, improved internet penetration to 85 percent and sanitary support reaching more than 105,000 girls across the country. He urged delegates to honestly assess remaining challenges, emphasising that unresolved projects would seamlessly transition into NDS2.
Cde Fundukwa echoed these sentiments, calling for unity of purpose as the province prepares for the next development phase.
“Our development agenda is not a solo journey; it requires collective effort and unwavering commitment from every sector of society. Let us continue to work together, putting the interests of our people first, because Vision 2030 is not just a slogan -it is our pledge to future generations,” he said.
The vice chairman also took the opportunity to rally party structures around the President’s vision, urging them to remain focused despite challenges.
“Zimbabwe is on an irreversible path to prosperity. The gains we have made under NDS1 are undeniable and I call upon all party cadres to remain steadfast in defending these achievements. Our unity as a party and as a people is our greatest asset and we must guard it jealously,” Cde Fundukwa said.
He further emphasised the importance of inclusive development, ensuring that no community is left behind.
