Cde Zvaraya declared liberation heroine

President Mnangagwa has conferred liberation heroine status on Cde Rosemary Zvaraya who died at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital on Monday.

Cde Zvaraya was 78.

In a letter to the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, Zanu PF Secretary-General Cde Obert Mpofu said: “His Excellency, the President and First Secretary of Zanu PF, Cde ED Mnangagwa, has conferred liberation heroine status on the late Cde Zvaraya Rosemary who died on April 28th, 2025,” said Cde Mpofu.

“She will be buried at the Chinhoyi Provincial Heroes Acre in Chinhoyi. The family can be contacted through Mashonaland West Provincial Offices.”

Burial is expected to take place on Thursday.

Cde Zvaraya joined Zapu in 1962 and was arrested and detained several times in 1974 and 1975 for supporting the liberation struggle.
