Celebrating Africa Day

According to the trust’s arts and culture co-ordinator, Alouis Sagota, revellers will be treated to a colourful afternoon of performances also in marimba and dance, choir poetry and theatre.

“The reason for this production is not only to entertain but also educate people. Our legends, Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi, were indeed spirit mediums that helped to liberate the people but they also played their role on the child protection. As parents, their legacy is significant, hence the recreation of their story,” he said.

“In terms of preparations, the children have been rehearsing well for the past month. They are being co-ordinated by professional trainers so their act is going to be up to scratch,” he said

The Ministry of Education as well as delegates will grace the occasion that is expected to be a huge success.
Dzikwa Trust is an organisation for HIV and Aids orphans as well as vulnerable children. The trust has put in place deliberate efforts to promote arts programmes for children.

The trust’s arts and culture group has also staged incredible performances at the Harare International Festival of Arts. The trust is the brainchild of Wuolle’s husband, Seppo Ainamo. The couple, who were orphans in their home country, Finland, started operating in 1992 where they helped a boy who had been orphaned by HIV. — CL Reporter.
