Celebrating Valentine’s Day with a difference

Victoria Falls Reporter
VICTORIA Falls will this year celebrate Valentine’s Day through fashion as Hunnar Management hosts a show dubbed, Love Meets Fashion, at The Wild Thing.
According to Sheenah Moyo, an official from Hunnar Management, Love Meets Fashion is a show for Zimbabwean designers who have showcased in big cities, but have never shown their work in Victoria Falls.

“So we want to bring awareness to the Victoria Falls community that there are proud Zimbabwean designers out there who can make any outfit you desire.

“We are promising a good show and for everyone that comes to the show they will receive a goodie bag with at least one item from the designers,” she said.

Moyo said designers such as Blinq Xclusive Jewellery, Shadow By Sdumiso, Rebelious Klothing, Clix Clothing, Tripple L and Litso will be showcasing their designs on the day.

“Blinq Xclusive Jewellery – is a label that I established in 2012 after I got my first piece of button jewellery made by another up-and-coming designer,” she said.

“From that time the love and the curiosity of button work drove me to start designing and creating jewellery from buttons.
“My brand caters for all that appreciate art and creativity. I have dressed quite a number of celebrities and individuals. The likes of Gilmore Tee Moyo, Mbo Mahocs, Rudo Nyoni, Tinopona Katsande, the list is endless,” said Moyo.

She said she has also done quite a number of events and fashion shows, Hifa 2013, Clothing Indaba 2013, ECCT Launch 2012, Jewel Magazine Pop up Sale, COFashion.

“My major highlight was the Toronto African Fashion Week in Canada 2013. My brand is growing and this year I will be showcasing my designs at a number of international events,” she said.

Moyo said Shadow by Sdumiso is done by Sidumiso Tshuma, 27, who started designing in 2004.
“His brand caters for the urban cultured, trendy and stylish. The big highlight of his career was when he dressed the South African songbird Zahara. He has also dressed quite a number of individuals namely former Miss Earth Zim, Dimistra Markou, Gilmore Tee, Njabulo Moyo, Team Deck of Deck Magazine among others,” she said.

Clix Clothing is a label by Cleedon Lotriet. The designer specialises in all forms of clothing and accessories. Clix Clothing designs have been worn by Tholakele Dlamini at the Super Model.

Lorraine Ndlovu, 28, has showcased in Harare for the Jewel Magazine Pop up sale. Ndlovu through her label Tripple L  has  also exhibited at the Bulawayo Christmas Fair and DamXtreme  2013.
