Celebrities to turn Red Cross volunteers

The organisation’s spokesperson says the “ambassadors” were selected in recognition of their worthy contributions to the community.

Big names on the list include actors Olu Jacobs, Alex Usifo Omiagbo, Stella Damasus, Joke Silva, Tonto Dike, singers, 2face Idibia, Banky W, P-Square, 9ice, Davido, Naeto C, comedians, Julius Agwu, AY, Ali Baba and ex-football stars, Jay Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu. Others are VJ, Denrele Edun, blogger, Linda Ikeji, producer Don Jazzy and Jibe Ologeh.

Already the Zimbabwe Red Cross Society has inducted sungura star Alick Macheso as its humanitarian ambassador whose mandate includes fund-raising for the vulnerable children and the poor.

His first fund-raising gig was held at the weekend in Mbare featuring other talented musicians such as gospel diva Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, Tryson Chimbetu, King Shaddy and the Dembo Brothers. — NET/The Herald Entertainment.
