Cell Holdings becomes ISO certified

Cell Holdings last week became the third insurance company in Zimbabwe to be ISO 9001:2001 certified when it received its      certification from the Standards Association of Zimbabwe.Its subsidiaries CellMed Health Medical Fund and Cell Funeral Assurance also became  pioneers of ISO certification in their respective sectors.

Speaking at the handover of the ISO certificates in Harare last week, SAZ director-general Mrs Eve Gadzikwa commended the company for becoming the third company in the insurance industry to attain certification.

“ISO 9001 is undoubtedly a big achievement not  only for Cell Holdings, but also for the Zimbabwean insurance industry.
“Cell Holdings has indeed set the pace for their colleagues in the sector, they are true innovators,” she said.

She added, “Quality management systems are fundamental for the insurance industry. It is no secret that many Zimbabwean consumers lost confidence in the insurance industry. I have no doubt that this certification you have attained here will point to your credibility, your promptness in honouring claim obligations and your quality of service delivery.”

Guest of honour at the ceremony, the commissioner general of Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) Mrs Manett Mpofu commended insurance companies that are certified and urged the rest not to take too long to attain certification in order to retain their competitive edge.
Cell group chief executive Mr Isheunesu Makuzwa said this ISO certification was a major milestone for the company.

“We are indeed proud to confirm that our service now equates international standards in terms of quality.
“We urge all our clients not to accept anything else except quality service as prescribed by our attainment of this standard,” he said.
Mr Makuzwa also thanked SAZ and his company for their effort and commitment in the implementation of this standard.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to my various boards for the steadfast pressure that has resulted in this certification, Mrs Gadzikwa and her team at SAZ for the meticulous counsel and guidance towards this certification and indeed the team Cell led by our management representative Mr Munyaradzi Chipunza for the hard work  towards this sweet destination,” he said.

Meanwhile, Cell Insurance re-launched the Alternative Risk Transfer solutions product called Rent-A-Cell which has been in the market since 2004 under its insurance company.
