THE 2012 final population census results will be released by the end of this month, the Zimbabwe National Statistics Agency (ZimStat) general manager, Mr Mutasa Dzinotizei, said yesterday. Preliminary results for the  August 2012 census released in December last year had shown a marginal increase in the country’s population which now stands at about 12,9 million.
Said Mr Dzinotizei: “After the release of preliminary results of the census we embarked on a process of analysing the data which we have just completed.

“By the end of this month we will release the final results, which will not be much different from the preliminary ones but there is room for a slight shift of about 0,7 percent.”

He said the final results would capture different demographic aspects that were not given in the preliminary results such as access to health, education, housing and water.

“The final results will provide an analysis based on provinces, districts and wards. It covers a wide range of socio-economic data,” said Mr Dzinotizei.

The preliminary census results revealed that there are 93 men for every 100 women in the country.
Based on the preliminary results, it means that Zimbabwe has 6 234 931 males and 6 738 877 females.

The figures show a 1,1 percent increase from the last census carried in 2002 where Zimbabwe had a population census of 11,6 million people, consisting of 5,6 million  males and six million females, with a sex ratio of 95 males per 100 females.
