THE ZIFA Central Region Soccer League has entered into a partnership with a tourism company, Green Wildlife Safaris, for the sponsorship of four monthly awards.

This will see the top goalscorer, Player of the Month, Goalkeeper of the Month and Coach of the Month being honoured every month.

Each will receive US$120 as prize money.

ZCRSL vice chairperson, Thomas Marabanyika, said the coming on board of sponsors for the individual awards is testament of the quality of competition and professionalism in the league.

“This a massive endorsement for the league, it shows how professional we have done our things and speaks to how competitive our league has been over the years,” Marabanyika said.

“We are all excited about this development when top performers are rewarded for their hard work.

“It goes a long way in motivating the players and all teams in general to up their game.”

He added that the deal will run for the rest of this season subject to renewal for next season.

Chapungu forward Edward Watson was named as the inaugural Player of the Month for September and he received his award on Sunday after Chapungu’s 4-0 win over Bishopstone at Ascot.

Midlands State University striker, Ishmael Makweza, won the top goal scorer award for his four goals last month.

Sheasham goalkeeper Elton Sibanda and Kwekwe United’s Elton Nechiware were the joint winners for the Goalkeeper of the Month award.

Lizwe Sweswe walked away with the Coach of the Month award after Sheasham’s impressive run in the month of September.
