Central Soccer League promotion play-off in doubt

Equally uncertain were the Beitbridge-based Zifa Matabeleland South play-off losers Town United who were still undecided and weighing their options of participating in the play-off.
Zifa Matabeleland South chairman Nkosilathi Ncube confirmed Gwanda United’s withdrawal.
“Gwanda United have withdrawn from the play-off stating that they see no value in participating in the play-off. They have been replaced by Beitbridge United (Town United) and that change has since been communicated to the relevant parties,” said Ncube.

Contacted for comment, Town United official Nkululeko Milidi said they had received the communication but would weigh the benefits.
“We have received such a communication but we will sit down and assess our squad before confirming our participation. It will be of no point to say we will participate then lose the first leg and fail to travel for the return leg. This will put us in bad position with football authorities,” said Milidi.

Unmoved by developments, Midlands State University Football Club secretary general Raymond Mugandani said they would leave no stone unturned.
“We will leave no stone unturned in our preparations and to us we regard the play-off as on and we will travel for the fixture and win,” said Mugandani.

The Central Region office was insisting the match was on and set for Gwanda.
