THE Zanu-PF leadership in Masvingo has urged its membership to remain peaceful amid threats of demonstrations and stayaways by MDC-Alliance.
Addressing hundreds of party supporters at Vurombo Primary School grounds in Ward 6 during victory celebrations for Councillor Wellington Mahwende in the July 2018 harmonised elections, provincial chair, Cde Ezra Chadzamira, who is also Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, reiterated that the party would not tolerate any incidents of violence by members of the opposition in the province.
“Firstly, I would like to congratulate members in Ward 6 for voting for the party and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Mahwende,” said Minister Chadzamira.
He hailed members for remaining resolute in the face of economic adversity perpetrated by economic saboteurs, bent on seeing the failure of the incumbent Government.
“We are very much aware that unscrupulous businesspeople are hiking prices of basic commodities to create despondency among the people.
“We thank you for remaining resolute and urge you to remain so, as the prevailing hardships are temporary.
“Government is seized with addressing pertinent economic fundamentals which will see our country prosper again, especially with the programme of devolution in full gear.
“We do not tolerate unnecessary demonstrations in Masvingo, and President Emmerson Mnangagwa said those who destabilise our peace will be dealt with accordingly.
“We urge you to go to work as usual and do not take heed of the call of stayaways by the MDC-Alliance.
“Those who dream leading this country in place of Zanu-PF should appease their ancestral spirits as they should forget as Zanu-PF will be there for a long, time,” Minister Chadzamira said.
Cllr Mahwende, is one of the three councillors out of 10 who won in Masvingo Urban on a Zanu-PF ticket.
The other two are Cllr Sengerayi Manyanga (Ward 10) and Cllr Against Chiteme (Ward 9).
