George Maponga in Masvingo
The Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Ezra Chadzamira has today commissioned fire tenders, a refuse collection truck and service vehicles worth US$2,1 million that were bought by Masvingo City Council to improve service delivery as the country’s oldest city angles to become an industrialised metropolitan by the year 2030.

Three refuse collection trucks were procured by council under the Belarus facility lubricated by the Government bringing to five the fleet of functional fire tenders operated by Masvingo city. The refuse truck and five service vehicles were bought by the local authority using funding from the devolution war chest and council’s internal revenue.

Minister Chadzamira lauded Masvingo city for the effective use of devolution funds saying this will inspire Government to avail more resources to benefit people at the grassroots as the Second Republic forges the talk on its mantra of leaving no one and no place behind.
The fire tenders will give impetus to Masvingo City Council’s quest to become a key player in managing disasters over southern parts of the country particularly along the modernised and upgraded Harare-Masvingo-Beitbridge highway.
Masvingo Mayor Aleck Tabe thanked Government for the devolution initiative which he said is influencing socio-economic transformation at grassroots levels in line with Vision 2030.
