SCOTTLAND head coach Tonderai Ndiraya was left in awe after teenage sensation Tadiwa Chakuchichi defied his age in their 1-0 win over Kwekwe at Rufaro on Sunday.
Chakuchichi, 16, was handed a start in a match that saw several senior players sitting on the bench after returning from national duty.
Chakuchichi dazzled, full of aplomb and skill on the left side before he was substituted for team captain Walter Musona in the 71st minute.
Despite missing clear chances to extend the hosts advantage, Chakuchichi didn’t hesitate to show his quality.
“I’m quite excited about young Tadiwa Chakuchichi, 16 years old, who started today on the left,” said Ndiraya.
“With a bit of luck, precision or probably a bit of experience he could have scored a hat-trick today.”
“He got very clear chances to score but the boy had a very good start.
“I’m hoping that he will continue on that trajectory and get more game time.
“I feel if he gets more game time we would have probably found a gem for our senior national team,” said Ndiraya.
Ndiraya also praised the job that is being done by Kwekwe head coach Paul Chimalizeni with the side.
Chimalizeni recently took the squad after the departure of Saul Chaminuka who is now with Dynamos.
“They are doing a good job,” said Ndiraya.
“It’s a very different team from the one that I watched before.
“Good work from coach Paul Chimalizeni and his backroom staff,” he said.
