Chaminuka survives crash

Senior Sports Reporter—
SAUL Chaminuka, the Buffaloes as well as senior men’s national team assistant gaffer, was involved in accident near the Headlands railway crossing line early this week but the man escaped unhurt although his BMW he was driving is almost beyond repair. Many had expected the Buffaloes coach not to be on the bench when the Mutare side took on ZPC Kariba on Wednesday afternoon at Sakubva stadium but the man was not only in office but indeed had a good day in office!

Chaminuka was admitted at Rusape District Hospital after the accident, discharged the same day and the veteran soccer coach was back in Mutare to join his team in its fight to evade the dreaded relegation chop.

In fact, the former Eastern Lions and ZPC Kariba mentor was barking instructions from the touchline when his team dismissed ZPC Kariba 2-1 at Sakubva stadium on Wednesday to remain hanging by the thread as they fight for dear life in this riveting Castle Lager Premiership relegation dogfight.

Chaminuka was travelling from Harare to Mutare when tragedy struck. “As you can see, I am fit and I have no pains that I am complaining about. It was terrible when the vehicle skidded and rolled after encroaching on some quarry stones just after the railway line crossing points near Headlands.

The car was badly damaged. “I was admitted at Rusape District Hospital and got discharged the same day. “I thank God that I managed to escape unhurt and I hope the same powers that helped me during that accident will help Buffaloes escape relegation,’’ said Chaminuka.
