Chamisa denies owing producer US$1 323

owes Timeline Media, a Harare-based company US$1 323 for services rendered in 2009.
According to Timeline, it covered events Minister Chamisa, who is also the MDC-T national organising secretary, participated in from May to November 2009.
Minister Chamisa yesterday dismissed the claim arguing that he did know the company or their representatives.
“I do not know that man. He is only somebody who is looking for news and we do not do things in that way.  We follow certain Government procedures and we do not deal with verbal contracts,” he said.
He referred questions to his personal assistant Mr Fortune Ngarande who confirmed that Timeline Media once worked with the ministry.
One of the company’s directors Mr Joshua Chiduza, claimed  Timeline and Minister Chamisa entered a verbal agreement to film and record all seminars and tours he undertook in 2009.
The minister, Mr Chiduza alleges, promised to pay for the services using his personal money.
“Every time I go to see the minister over the issue, he says that he is a civil servant and can not afford to pay such an amount.
“Sometimes he pretends as if he doesn’t know me. His personal assistant is arrogant and he even threatened me,” he said.
Mr Ngarande, in confirming the agreement, said while Minister Chamisa’s office knew the company, Mr Chiduza was misrepresenting the facts to the public.
“He met the minister and offered, out of his own free volition, to do the job and we were surprised to see him pitch at our offices and demanding money. We are custodians of public resources and we do not splash money on bogus people,” he said.
He said Minister Chamisa only offered to provide free transport and food to Mr Chiduza.
“If he wants money he should do (ask for it) so in a good way. We do not hire people willy-nilly and we float tenders through the State Procurement Board if there is a job to be done.
“If he wants money he should ask those who are benefiting from the indigenisation drive and he is a good candidate because he is talented,” Mr Ngarande said.
