Chamisa’s report of shame

Herald Reporter

Fallen but desperate opposition leader Mr Nelson Chamisa has now resorted to outright fraud, lies and deceit as he desperately seeks political relevance.

Mr Chamisa, who lost last year’s elections, has now come up with a fake inquest report that alleges, without substantiating,  that the polls were rigged.

The concocted report was supposed to be shared among a few select SADC leaders during the region’s annual summit underway in Harare, and sympathetic foreign elements that have always been anti-Zimbabwe.

Two civic society organisations (CSOs names withheld) were supposed to release the report under the pretext of a deep inquest into last year’s elections when it was written hurriedly overnight.

This was part of a broader plot to sully the reputation of the Second Republic, other sub-plots included faked abductions and violent demonstrations.

Pandering to the whims and caprices of his Western handlers Mr Chamisa’s so-called inquiry claims that some within Zanu PF revealed to him that post-last year polls the ruling party had an audit where it conceded that the elections did not go their way.

“Members of the smaller faction within the ruling party admitted that the ruling party lost the elections. This faction corroborated the claims of election manipulation to retain power.

“The faction expressed significant discontent with the leadership’s decision to manipulate the election results. They highlighted internal divisions and dissatisfaction with the party’s ethical direction.

“The smaller faction expressed their willingness to cooperate with external bodies, including our team, to ensure electoral integrity and justice. They are keen on working towards a more democratic and accountable political environment,” read Mr Chamisa’s fictitious report.

Zanu PF dismissed the report as a desperate attempt to soil last year’s elections.

“When we go for elections, Zanu PF is not a player, we are not privy to what will be happening at ZEC, we believe that there were V11s at every polling station and the opposition had agents, they should just produce them, this is just opposition politics of desperation,” said Zanu PF Director of Information Cde Farai Marapira.

Replete with the opposition’s baseless claims that the ruling Zanu PF manipulated the elections, the desperate and half-baked report is repeating the same old tales that have previously failed to stand on all fours.

According to the concocted findings of the report, there were millions of names of deceased persons on the voters’ roll, duplicate entries, and non-existent addresses were identified, indicating potential tampering.

The Chamisa report of shame also claimed that CCC had installed CCTVs at polling stations and had evidence of ballot box stuffing and removal of opposition ballots.

“This was corroborated by eyewitness testimonies and CCTV footage showing unauthorised personnel handling ballots,” reads the report in part.

Further, the sham report claimed that there was voter intimidation by ruling party supporters, and also that opposition voters were threatened with violence or economic repercussions.

The cobweb of deceit further claims that the electronic transmission system used for reporting election results showed signs of hacking and unauthorised access. The fake inquiry, which was meant to be published in the opposition-aligned media and shared among some gullible organisations ahead of the SADC Summit, that kicks off in earnest today, dovetails with the opposition propaganda that the regional body could order a rerun of elections.

It was designed to come as a comprehensive inquiry into the conduct of last year’s elections and cast aspersions on the Government.

Yesterday Mr Chamisa was not responding to calls from The Herald.
