UPCOMING hip-hop singer, Takunda ‘Mambo Vemuteyo’ Munemo, has lamented abortion in his latest musical video titled Ngwara Iwe.
In an interview with H-Metro, the musician said he penned the song to conscientise girls about the risks that come with pregnancy termination, including death.
“First of all, it’s based on a true story of a lady named Melody, who was my classmate.
“She was a gold digger and it happened that she got pregnant.
“She had an abortion and died.
“I was trying to paint a picture to society, especially the girl child, to make the right choices and not to rush to get pregnant before settling down.
“Chimwe nechimwe chine nguva yacho.
“Ukashanda ne pressure you end up desperate and desperation, most of the time, leads to mukuita zvese zvese”, said Munemo.
As an artist, who comes from the ghetto, Munemo strongly urged ghetto youths to speak up about depression.
“Depression is so real.
“I come from the ghetto, so I understand it because sometimes people around me experience it.
“So, people must speak up to get help quickly.”
The musician has also released singles and videos, which include Kapfupi, featuring Kayslie and Tamy Moyo, Mbeu Yese, Steady Mambo and Ndakazviparira.
