UPCOMING Zimdancehall artist, Tawanda “Sharks” Shara, has released a song which tackles drug abuse.

Titled Say No To Drugs, the song is a genuine reminder to young people to stay away from drugs.

In an interview with H-Metro, Shara said he wrote the song, with the friends he lost to drugs, in mind.

“I recently released a song that has a video on my anti-drug campaign.

“I was touched by how my friends have been dying after falling prey to drugs.

“The song that I released is called Say No To Drugs and I released it on the 12th of August,” he said.

Shara said this particular project was very close to home.

“I have been singing for quite some time now and recently started this project because it resonated a lot with my current life situation.

“What made me want to start working on this project was that I saw that it is an area that most people are neglecting and, as a result of that, we are losing our loved ones.

“A lot of youngsters have nothing to do every day so they end up passing their time by doing drugs,” he told H-Metro.

Asked how people have been reacting to his project, he said: “I am appreciative of how people have been listening to the song and giving me feedback as well.

“They are saying that such type of music can help reach out to the ghetto youths and help them refrain from drugs.”

The artist has collaborated with one big artist and wishes to work with more.

“I started singing in 2011 but released my first song in 2013.

“On one of the songs I released, I collaborated with Seh Calaz and the song is called Jah Army.

“I am hoping that if people get to notice my work more big artists will want to work with me,” he said.

Shara also highlighted that he was looking for a manager and sponsorship.

“I have always dreamt of being a big artist one day but there are many challenges that I face.

“I have no permanent manager, sponsors or promoters who can work with me to better my music.

“I am looking for anyone who is willing to be my mentor,” he said.
