THE Zimdancehall scene is ablaze as artists drop back-to-back hits, each gunning for the crown of the 2025 summer anthem.
From bars to buses, social media to street corners, the heat is on as chanters chase both fame and fortune. Jah Signal has returned with a softer but catchy vibe in “Emerina,” already racking up YouTube views and securing radio rotation.
With lyrics that speak to love and loyalty, it’s connecting with a wider, cross-generational audience. Rising star Chillmaster, known for his gritty delivery and youthful slang, entered the scene with “Judas Iscariot,” a hard-hitting song addressing deception and heartbreak.
Chillmaster’s street freestyles have also contributed to his growing fame, with fans calling him “the voice of the trenches.”
Then there is Nutty O, whose fusion of dancehall and Afrobeats continues to set him apart.
His latest release, “Too Much,” dropped last week and has already caught fire on social media.
The song celebrates living large while embracing African flair – a perfect recipe for summer fun. “Nutty O is always international,” said Melissa Gondo, 25, a digital content creator.
“His sound is fresh and his lyrics make you feel proud to be Zimbabwean.”
With crisp videos and collaborations teased with regional artists, Nutty O seems to be aiming beyond borders while still locked into the local vibe. Fans believe that this year’s competition is the fiercest in a while.
“Jah Signal brings emotion, Chillmaster brings the streets, and Nutty O brings the global sound.
‘‘I honestly don’t know who will take the crown,” said a fan. Each artist is dropping music not just for us but with a clear marketing push.
“TikTok, YouTube, dance battles, live shows – it’s a full strategy.”
