A Harare man’s repeated demands for a DNA test at his wife’s workplace have prompting her to take him to court seeking a protection order.
Yvonne Chirimo told Harare magistrate Meenal Naratom that Innocent Gonela has made it a habit to visit her workplace, shouting and threatening her to undergo a DNA test.
“He comes to my workplace, causing a scene and disturbing my colleagues.
“My employer has warned me that if this continues, I will be fired,” Yvonne said.
Innocent countered that Yvonne is attempting to use the court to thwart his efforts to conduct a DNA test.
“I have reason to believe that the child she’s raising is not mine.
“I have e caught her having multiple affairs, and I want to establish the truth.
“Whenever I try to engage in a conversation with her ,she dismisses the conversation.
“I do not intend to get her fired but I want answers, “ Innocent claimed.
Yvonne dismissed Innocent’s allegations, saying that his actions are motivated by malice.
“He’s trying to harass and intimidate me. I fear for my safety and the well being of my child,” she said.
The court granted Yvonne a protection order, refraining Innocent from visiting Yvonne’s workplace or harass her in any way.
After the court’s ruling Innocent told Yvonne’s relatives that he wanted nothing to do with their child until a DNA test is conducted.
