CHAPUNGU is wary of the threat posed by How Mine when the two sides clash in this afternoon’s Castle Lager Premiership encounter at Ascot Stadium.
The airmen are still smarting from a 0-2 loss to Hwange last Sunday, while How Mine lost 1-2 to Ngezi Platinum Stars and both sides will be seeking better fortunes.
Chapungu coach Tendai Chikuni said he needs a positive result today, but his side will have to be at its best to beat a “tactically superior” How Mine outfit.
“It’s not going to be an easy match, but playing at home we have the advantage of the supporters and we need to post a positive result. If you look at How Mine, they are tactically superior to most teams in the country and we will need to dig deep if we are to come out with a positive result,” said Chikuni.
“We will have to motivate the boys, especially coming from a loss, so that we can come out with the best result. We’ve done all that needs to be done and we are hoping for the best.”
Chapungu will also be looking to revenge the 1-2 loss they suffered at the hands of How Mine in the reverse fixture.
How Mine come into today’s match with turmoil in their camp following reports that players haven’t been paid their signing-on fees, salaries and winning bonuses.
This caused disruption of the gold miners’ training sessions.
However, Chikuni is not reading much into the disturbances at How Mine and prefers to focus on his team’s strength.
“Things like that happen in football, but we are not going to be complacent. They are still a good side despite whatever is happening and we would rather focus on our strengths,” Chikuni said.
