A TEACHER at Dingimuzi Primary School in Plumtree falsely accused his wife of abusing him and dragged her to court seeking a protection order against her in a bid to divorce her.

Mr Caleb Siqhoza, in his application which he submitted at the Plumtree magistrate’s court, said Ms Midred Ndebele, who is employed as a security guard, was in the habit of insulting him and threatening him in full view of their children who are five and eight years old.

Mr Siqhoza’s application was however, turned down after he failed to prove that his wife was indeed abusive.

He later confessed to have sought the protection order just to separate from his wife.

“I was just angry as I no longer love my wife and I want her to separate with me. There are no tangible incidences I can refer to when she abused me,” he said.

In his application, Mr Siqhoza had claimed that he had separated with his wife because of her violent tendencies.

“I was customarily married to Ms Ndebele since 2007 until we separated recently because of her violent and abusive behaviour. I stay with our two children aged five and eight years because she is incapable of looking after them.

“She frequents night clubs and comes to my place drunk where she insults and threatens me in the full view of our children. I have tried to resolve this matter with her amicably but without luck,” he  said.

Mr Siqhoza said Ms Ndebele recently visited his workplace and caused a scene in front of his colleagues and learners.

In her response, Ms Ndebele dismissed her husband’s allegations. She said they were having arguments until she decided to move out of their matrimonial home but they later reconciled.

Ms Ndebele said she and her husband were still living together.

“I have never abused my husband in any way as he is alleging. We were having arguments and I decided to move out but he followed me and we reconciled.

As I speak before the court now, we slept in the same bed last night.

“He is saying I went to his school and caused a scene when in actual fact we had an argument and we both insulted one another,” she said.

Plumtree magistrate, Mr Joshua Mawere, who presided over the matter, said the court had failed to see any threats on Mr Siqhoza’s life emanating from his wife which called for a protection order to be granted.

He duly dismissed Mr Siqhoza’s application.
