A SOLITARY goal by Brighton Mugoni in the 78th minute ensured Chapungu won the battle of defence forces and kept alive their good start to life back in the Castle Lager Premiership at Rimuka yesterday.
Mugoni, full of running all afternoon, punished his former club when he towered above the entire defence to connect home a ball swung in from a corner by Gift Phiri.
It meant that John Nyikadzino and his men have now picked four points in their first two matches and have won at a venue where the majority of the Premiership clubs failed to gain anything.
“I salute the boys for making my day. They played according to instructions and executed what we were doing at training,” said Nyikadzino, whose team is yet to concede a goal.
“At training we have been rehearsing these corner kicks and we scored from a set-piece.
The game was evenly balanced and the better team won as it was a grudge match between the uniformed teams.”
Rhinos coach Arthur Tutani said his team paid a huge price for not taking their chances.
