Halftime: Chicken Inn 1-0 TelOne FC
Michael Charamba’s stunning first-half strike has gave Chicken Inn a 1-0 halftime lead over TelOne FC in their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Week 24 clash at Luveve Stadium.
The GameCocks could have gone ahead as early as the 10th minute, but George Majika’s penalty was brilliantly saved by TelOne goalkeeper Takudzwa Chikosi, who guessed correctly to keep his side level.
TelOne nearly capitalised four minutes later after winning a free-kick just outside the Chicken Inn box. However, veteran midfielder Silas Songani fired wide, leaving goalkeeper Donovan Benard untested.
Chicken Inn threatened again in the 31st minute when Majika whipped in an inviting cross, but Innocent Masiwa headed off target.
With the first half seemingly destined to end goalless, Charamba broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute. He latched onto a loose ball on the edge of the box and unleashed a superb first-time volley beyond the helpless Chikosi to hand Chicken Inn a deserved 1-0 lead at the break.
