Gospel musician Pastor Charles Charamba and his wife Olivia have indefinitely postponed their tour of South Africa due to the xenophobic attacks that have left people dead and others injured.
Pastor Charamba said they wanted the situation to calm down before they can stage their shows in the neighbouring country.
The Charambas who were billed to perform in Cape Town on Saturday this weekend have joined other musicians like Alick Macheso who have cancelled their scheduled shows in the same country due to xenophobia.
Charamba said they had agreed with the promoters to postpone the shows until the situation calms down.
“The xenophobic attacks are very bad and it is not proper for us to perform in the country,” he said.
The “Machira Chete” hit-maker said there was need for the continent to pray for the situation.
“We feel as musicians we have to show solidarity with the whole of Africa. We need to pray for the situation so that peace is restored upon us,” he said.

Pastor Charamba has joined several musicians who have condemned the attacks.
Local musicians Pah Chihera, King Shaddy, Suluman Chimbetu and Mathias Mhere have released a song condemning the violence.
Jah Prayzah and Energy Mutodi have also released songs against xenophobia.
Regionally musicians Maphi, Cleo and Cassper Nyovest have openly condemned the situation.
