Charambas celebrate Dhewa’s life

A prolific composer who is also blessed with good voice intonation, Pastor Charamba said he would reach out to the late musician’s fans by singing a number of songs that Tongai liked.
“I know that most of his fans are still grieving. But we will make the day a special event, where we will let music soothe their souls, and wipe tears from their cheeks.
“On the day, we will not be grieving, but we will be celebrating the life of a courageous and determined man who lived his life, while fighting a disease that was tearing him down inside,” he said.
His wife, Olivia, who also has got an array of songs that the late sungura musician also liked, would join Pastor Charamba on stage.
Daiton Somanje, Jah Prayzah, Tryson Chimbetu, Leonard Zhakata, David Machowa aka Apama and First Farai would join the First Family of gospel. Show organiser Biggie Chinoperekwei of City Sports Bar said the gig was meant to celebrate the life of the late musician.
“We realised many fans of the late musician were not able to attend the Mbizo gig, that’s why we decided to fashion yet another gig on a much more broader scale than the Kwekwe one,” he said.
He added that the show was also meant to support Peter, who has had to steer the Utakataka ship following the death of his father.
“We support the young man, and we hope by offering him support, he will be able to take the band to another level,” he said.
At 23, Peter has not disappointed, but has managed to steer the ship from the tumultuous wind that at one time threatened to tear the band apart, when key members like Shiga Shiga left the outfit to join Energy Mutodi.
