Pastor Charles and Olivia Charamba lived up to their “First Gospel Family” reputation when they held three successful concerts in Australia early this month.The talented gospel musicians started off at the Redgum Centre in Sydney before they had a well attended show at the Drum Theatre in Melbourne.
The couple, backed by their six-member band The Fishers of Men, capped the tour with a bumper crowd the Christian Life Centre in Perth. About 500 people attended the Perth family show.
The Melbourne crowd was the most lively, and some people joined the Charambas on stage as they sang along and danced to classic tunes like “Sarudzai”, “Tauya Kuzomutenda” and “Machira Chete”.
This was the second Charambas were touring Australia, after an equally successful show last year.
Their new album WeNazareta was sold out, and fans particularly liked the duet song “Ndiwe Wega,” a love song that got many couples encouraged. The Charambas exchange love words in the song, and it was a bit of a shame that the couple did not sing many of the songs on their new album.
That as it may be, the album did well sells wise, as all copies were sold out at the end of the three-day tour.
It was a hectic program for the band as they played three straight days in a row, and also given that Melbourne is 1000 km from Sydney, while Perth is a five hour flight from Melbourne.
The Charambas impressed with their high energy splendid choreographing on stage, and each show was three hours long.
