adminmusician Blessed Chari’s album titled “Icho! Charira! Feel the Bang!” that talks about the importance of valuing one’s national heritage.
The 11-track album, which was recorded at One-Love Studios, also goes the extra mile to tackle a number of topical issues like peace, anti-sanctions, child support and the importance of the elections, among others.
The track “Gushungo Vanodadisa” is self-explanatory in talking about how President Mugabe has sacrificed a lot to make Zimbabwe the peaceful country that it is today. The musician urges youths to always remember that it is through leaders of the President’s calibre that the country was liberated on April 18, 1980 after a protracted struggle against colonialism.
Chari also encourages unity and peace, saying people should always remain united despite their differences in political affiliations, race, colour or creed, in the song “Pray for Peace”.
But peace will always be under threat owing to the machinations of some foreign masterminds who are bent on sowing the seeds of disunity in the country, hence the
central message in the song “War on Sanctions”.
Through the song, Chari reminds all Zimbabweans to unite in the war against sanctions since they affect everyone.
Children and how they are tomorrow’s future makes up the gist of the song “Tomorrow People”. “Chase The Beast Away”, “Regai Nditaure”, “Hold On to Love (song for
Rumbi)”, “Let It Shine” and “Dear Mama Where Are You?” make up the rest of the playlist.
The Conscious People backed Chari on the album. It is an album that all Zimbabweans will find spot on in the way it addresses issues affecting them. The cover design is also worth mentioning. It depicts the artiste clad in revolutionary regalia while his hands are now free after chains that once fettered them have been broken.
On the other hand, a picture of President Mugabe clenching one fist is shown.
The father of three, who refers to himself as both a father and mother following his wife’s death, put up a sterling performance at the 21st February Movement celebrations held in Mutare.
On February 24, Chari presented his latest album to His Excellency President Robert Mugabe, a strong pan-African advocate himself who also happens to be the inspiration behind the crafting of the album.
Chari believes that unification is the solution to the problems in Africa.
“Unity is key to the problems that Africa is facing hence it is vital for the Africans to join hands under one cause and shun division,” said Chari.
Born in Chinhoyi in 1966, Chari is a devout Rastafarian who draws inspiration from legendary reggae great Bob Marley who also advocated pan-Africanism through his music before passing on 1981.
Chari is also an instrumentation and control technician at the Hwange Colliery Company.
