Charles Mungoshi Jr readies new book

IN line with the vow to continue with his father’s legacy, motivational writer Charles Mungoshi Jr is readying another book titled “Positivity”.

The book is set for release in August.

The youthful author is son to late prolific writer Charles Mungoshi Snr and actress Jesesi Mungoshi, who is well known for her role in the film “Neria”.

The Mungoshi family is visibly endowed artistically.

Mungoshi Jr’s parents have both been illustrious figures in the country’s arts space.

His father Mungoshi Snr might need little or no introduction to Zimbabwean readers, as most have either encountered or heard about his work.

Needless to say he is the author of the classic “Waiting for the Rain”, short story anthology “Coming of the Dry Season”, “The Milkman Does Not Only Deliver Milk”, “The Setting Sun and the Rolling World”, “Walking Still” and “Stories From a Shona Childhood”.

He also had Shona titles “Makunun’unu Maodzamoyo”, “Ndiko Kupindana Kwemazuva”, “Kunyarara Hakusi Kutaura?” among others.

In an interview with The Sunday Mail Society, Mungoshi Jr said motivational writers have in the past tended to be prescriptive in tone.

“I believe it should be more of the things that would have worked for you and you then encourage others to try that formula,” said the young writer, who is also the founder of The Hub of Positivity Publishing Consultancy.

The consultancy vision is to bring simplicity in helping millions to tell their complex stories and share their thoughts.

The author’s forthcoming book is about the science of positivity. He has been practicing and studying positive behaviour in connection with existence and life.

“It is a self help book that has practical experiences that can shift and assist one to re-programme their mentality. Life is dealt with from the mind. It is a direct reflection of our subconscious thoughts,” he said.

He added that the title may have a link to the school of positivity but he believes it is his sole purpose to help everyone.

“I can see the greater picture of their existence and not be drowned by the daily challenges which pose as barriers yet they are temporary structures created by a limited mindset,” said Mungoshi Jr.

The inspirational writer’s other titles include “Candle Light Thoughts”, “Destroy the Box”, “Madhiri Ecash”, “Falls for the Top”, “Snippets of my Versatile Mind” and “The Curse of Being Young and Successful”.

On the other hand, The Hub of Positivity Publishing Consultancy has published several books and brought about the dreams of many to life.

This include Picco Construction CEO Dr Rinos Mautsa’s book “The Will of Time”, Mudiwa Hood’s “Shut Up and Make Money”, Samantha Musa, aka Miss Red’s “Be Faithful to Your Happiness”, Tendai Immanuel’s “Speak” an anthology of poems and another anthology of poems by Margaret Chideme titled “First Thirty”.

The Hub of Positivity has also worked with South African author Unathi, Zimnat Managing Director Workmore Chimweta on his book “Mind your Business”, Masvingo-based writer Charles Mbengo on “The Catch”, Prophet Gerry King on “Fulfilling Your Assignment” as well as a United Kingdom-based group of ladies –the Eagle Threshing Floor Women who co-authored “Untold Stories”.

The list also includes politicians namely Congo Brazzaville Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Brice Dimitri Bayendissa’s “Can God, Politics, and Religion Work Together”.

Mungoshi Jr was born on November 19, 1986 in Harare and was educated in schools in the capital. Growing up, Mungoshi Jr could not escape the creative influence of his parents.

He is married and has two sons.
