HEALTH and fitness enthusiasts in Nkulumane and surrounding suburbs are set for an exciting morning of exercise, wellness awareness and community engagement when Charleston Trust Primary School hosts its inaugural Charleston Trust Marathon 5km Fun Run on Saturday.
The event, which will run under the theme “Health Awareness”, is expected to attract participants of all ages as organisers seek to promote healthy living while raising awareness on major health
conditions affecting communities.
Set to start and finish at Charleston Trust Primary School in Nkulumane 10, the 5km fun run will begin at 7am and conclude at 10am, providing a platform for families, athletes, social runners and fitness enthusiasts to come together for a worthy cause.
The event will be more than just a race, as it aims to encourage communities to embrace active lifestyles while creating awareness around critical health issues such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and mental health.
The route will take participants through several sections of Nkulumane, passing key landmarks including Nketa High School, Nketa 8 Shopping Centre and Munyoro Shopping Centre before runners make their way back to the school.
In addition to the fun run, participants will have access to free blood pressure checks, blood sugar level screenings and a Zumba session, making the event a comprehensive health and wellness experience.
Invitation has also been extended an invitation to companies, institutions and individuals willing to support the initiative, describing the event as a community-driven effort aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles.
Participation fees have been set at an affordable US$2 per individual, with commemorative event T-shirts available for US$5.
With the growing popularity of road running and wellness activities in Bulawayo, the Charleston Trust Marathon presents a timely opportunity for residents of Nkulumane and neighbouring suburbs to lace up their running shoes, improve their fitness and contribute to building a healthier community.
As the organisers aptly put it: “Run for health. Run for life. Run together.”
