Chatunga Mugabe arrested, SA police investigate shooting at his home

Gauteng police are investigating a reported shooting at a Hyde Park residence in Johannesburg linked to Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe, son of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Multiple social media posts on X are reporting that a security guard was shot and left in a critical condition, and that Mugabe was arrested at the scene.

However, these details have not yet been confirmed by police.

Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello told IOL she was on her way to the scene and would provide an update once she had assessed the situation.

“At this stage we are still at the scene and will give an update once confirmed,” Sello said.

Police have not yet officially confirmed the identity of the victim, whether anyone has been charged, or the circumstances leading up to the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing, and more details are expected once police provide a formal briefing. – IOL News
