‘Cheating’ wife steals property

A WOMAN from Tshabalala in Bulawayo is the talk of the suburb after she reportedly eloped to her Nkulumane boyfriend, in the process getting away with all the property in their matrimonial home. Abnell Banda, a cobbler, got the shock of his life last month when his customary wife, Florence Wurayayi, reportedly looted all their property including his personal identification documents and school certificates.

It is alleged that sometime last month, Wurayayi told her husband that her brother in Harare had bought a house and they were supposed to move out from their Tshabalala home on that very same day. Upon hearing this, Banda told her to wait for him so that they talk about it later as he was attending a business meeting in town.

“My wife told me about the issue of moving to Harare but l told her to wait for me as I was attending a business meeting in town though I was not comfortable with moving out immediately.

“However, when I arrived at home around 9pm I got the shock of my life as I found a white truck at my house with seven men busy moving property from my house under the instruction of my wife. I tried to stop them but I failed because of the seven huge men who she claimed were her brothers,” said Banda.
He said upon investigation, he discovered that the seven were hired bouncers from Nkulumane.

“I was shocked to further discover that she was now cheating on me with a man from Nkulumane. What amazes me is that we were not having any marriage problems. I wonder what she was not content with; instead of being open and telling me, she chose to have another affair.

“I reported the matter to the police but no action was taken. They called my wife and we had a meeting with the community relations officer but still no justice was done to my issue and I think it is unfair,” said Banda, with a bitter tone.

Police reportedly advised Banda to “go and deal” with his wife while Wurayayi was ordered to return the property but claimed not to have transport.
“The funny part is that the police told me to go and take my property from my wife without assistance of at least one policeman, thus my wife took advantage of this and refused to give me back my property,” said Banda.

However, contacted for comment, Wurayayi hit back claiming that the two had been having marital problems for some time, leading her to move out from their marital home.
She said Banda told her that he intended to return to his first wife.

“I agree that I left with the property but Banda is not being sincere because I took that property to pay off a $292 debt he left at Chitungwiza General Hospital where I gave birth to our child. Besides, this man was now bringing his first wife into our matrimonial house. I really could not stand it, which is why I decided to leave. He must forget that I will return that property, I will sell it to raise money to survive,” said Wurayayi.
